Stow Money is operated by Drewprint Studios LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how Stow Money handles personal information when you use the product.
1. What Stow Money does
Stow Money helps households understand cash flow, bills, debt, savings goals, and money-allocation decisions. To do that, Stow Money may receive financial account data, transaction data, user-provided context, and product usage data.
Stow Money will use only the data reasonably necessary to provide planning, forecasting, and account-linked product features.
2. Information we collect
Stow Money may collect:
- Account information, such as account type, institution name, balance, and masked account identifiers
- Transaction information, such as dates, merchant names, descriptions, categories, and amounts
- Debt and bill information, such as balances, interest rates, payment amounts, due dates, and autopay status
- User-provided context, including goals, required obligations, avoid preferences, and planning settings
- Usage and device information, such as browser type, app interactions, and basic logs needed for reliability and security
Stow Money will collect only the information reasonably needed to deliver the product.
Stow Money will not require users to submit highly sensitive secrets that are not necessary for planning, including:
- full payment card numbers
- CVV or CVC codes
- PINs
- online banking credentials (account connections are handled by Plaid — Stow Money never receives your banking username or password)
- Social Security numbers unless clearly required for a separately disclosed feature
Stow Money applies technical measures to detect and filter sensitive data submitted through free-text fields such as the financial assistant. These measures are not exhaustive. Users are responsible for what they enter into free-text fields and should not submit passwords, account numbers, government-issued ID numbers, or similar sensitive identifiers through chat or context inputs.
3. How we use information
Stow Money may use information to:
- Connect and refresh financial accounts
- Infer recurring income, bills, debts, and payment timing
- Generate planning recommendations, forecasts, and progress tracking
- Improve reliability, security, and fraud prevention
- Respond to support requests and operational issues
- Comply with legal obligations
Stow Money will not sell or rent personal financial information. Stow Money will not disclose personal financial information to third parties except:
- as needed to provide the product
- as directed or authorized by the user
- to protect rights, safety, and security
- to comply with law, legal process, or valid governmental request
- as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or similar corporate transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality restrictions
4. AI and model processing
For full details on how AI is used in the product, see the [AI Use Disclosure](/legal/ai-use-disclosure).
Stow Money may use AI systems to analyze structured financial data and user-provided context in order to generate recommendations, summaries, timelines, and planning explanations.
Stow Money will minimize the data sent to AI systems and avoid sending unnecessary identifiers. Stow Money will not send full account numbers, CVV values, PINs, or similar payment credentials to AI systems.
Stow Money may use institution names, merchant names, balances, due dates, rates, and user-provided planning context as necessary planning inputs, while still avoiding unnecessary identifiers and secrets.
5. Financial data providers and service providers
Stow Money uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to connect your financial accounts. By connecting an account, you agree to Plaid's Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal. Plaid handles authentication directly with your financial institution — Stow Money never receives your banking credentials.
The data Stow Money requests through Plaid is limited to what is necessary for planning: account balances, transaction history, recurring transactions, and liability details for credit cards and loans.
You may revoke Plaid's access to your accounts at any time from the External Accounts page within Stow Money, or directly through your financial institution or Plaid's consumer portal at https://my.plaid.com.
Stow Money may also use other third-party providers to host the app, store data, process logs, and support planning features, including cloud hosting and database providers, and AI providers used for planning and summarization.
Stow Money will use contracts and technical controls appropriate to the sensitivity of the data involved. Service providers will be given access only to the information reasonably needed to perform their functions.
6. Data retention
Stow Money will retain data only as long as reasonably necessary for:
- product functionality
- support and troubleshooting
- fraud and security review
- legal and operational recordkeeping
Retention periods may be updated from time to time as the product evolves.
When a user disconnects accounts or requests deletion, Stow Money will stop ongoing collection from those sources and process deletion requests within 30 days, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and recordkeeping needs.
When an account is deleted, Stow Money removes the personal and financial information associated with it — including connected-account data, transactions, balances, plans, and goals — and disconnects the underlying bank connections. Stow Money retains a limited security and audit record of account activity, which may include identifiers such as email address, IP address, and device or browser information, for security, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, and legal-compliance purposes. This retained record is used only for those purposes — it is not used to market to you or to re-create your financial profile — and is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for them.
7. Security
Stow Money is designed to handle sensitive financial information carefully, but no system can promise perfect security.
Stow Money’s security controls may evolve over time as the product, infrastructure, and regulatory expectations change.
If Stow Money experiences a security incident affecting personal information, it will investigate, contain, remediate, and provide any legally required notifications.
8. User choices and rights
Users can:
- disconnect connected financial accounts from the External Accounts page
- edit or delete user-provided planning context, instructions, and goals
Users may also request deletion of their Stow Money account and stored data by contacting support. Deletion requests are subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and operational retention requirements.
Specific rights may vary depending on applicable law.
Users are responsible for reviewing linked-account permissions they grant to Stow Money and for revoking access they no longer want to provide.
9. Children
Stow Money is not intended for children.
10. Changes
Stow Money may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be made available in the product.
Material changes will be communicated in a reasonably prominent way before or when they take effect.
11. California privacy rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
